I have been reading an interesting article about NCL (Norwegian Cruise Line) and a new system they are operating which will allow guests to bid for a cabin upgrade (if eligible).

A good client of mine recently returned from a Celebrity Cruise over the Christmas and New Year period and was surprisingly disappointed with some aspects of it even though they have had highly positive experiences sailing with them previously.

The cruise lines have always historically had very good deals to start the New Year. For us January is the busiest month of the year. Many people want to get their holidays booked at the beginning of the year and want to take advantage of the great offers that are around.

It is that time of year again already. The time seems to fly by so quickly. I would like to wish all of my clients a Happy Christmas and New Year. I deal with so many lovely people who book with me regularly and you help make my time working here a pleasure, thank you.

I am really pleased to hear the news that the Adonia will be returning to sail for P&O Cruises UK after leaving in 2015 to work for Project Fathom.
Project Fathom were operating cruises for “volunteer tourism” which meant that passengers would sail to locations enabling them to do volunteer work for local communities that needed it. As much as I think the idea of this was nice, I hadn’t personally spoken to anyone who was actually interested in doing this.

Amsterdam is a popular cruise destination and has plenty there to see and do. Although I have visited many times I have only sailed into Amsterdam twice, once on the Fred Olsen Balmoral and once on the Azamara Quest.

The Fred Olsen Black Watch isn’t the most modern ship at sea, in-fact she was originally launched in 1972, although she was not taken over by Fred Olsen Cruise Lines until 1996.

We all know what awful events happened on a beach in Tunisia in 2015 as well as a gunman killing 21 people at a museum in Tunis.
Cruise lines stopped sailing to Tunisia because of this and I completely agree that was the right choice.

There has been a lot of controversy regarding cruise ships being able to sail in and out of Venice for a good while now and there have been reported protests already this year.

P&O Cruises have just announced that they are building a new ship set to launch in 2020 and she will be larger than any previous ships they have had built. In fact the new ship will be 180,000 tons and will accommodate approximately 5200 guests.
