Earlier this week I received some really upsetting news.  Once of my work colleagues and a friend had passed away aged just 30 years old.

Drew was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Sarcoma in October 2011.  I used to sit next to Drew in the office and we always used to have a laugh and a good bit of friendly banter.  I remember Drew telling me that he was getting some pains in his back and that he was going to go to the doctors.  I then had a week’s holiday from work and when I returned Drew wasn’t sat in his chair, it was then that I was told that Drew had been diagnosed with cancer.

The MV Discovery set to replace Cruise and Maritimes Ocean Countess

The owners of the 650 passenger mv Discovery have entered into a joint venture with Cruise & Maritime Voyages which the group has promised will offer passengers sharply reduced fares.

The All Leisure Group which also owns the 352 passenger Minerva and the 49 passenger Hebridean Princess wants to target the budget end of the cruise market by linking up with Cruise and Maritime jointly selling the Discovery.


Discovery will enter dry dock later this year and will undergo an extensive refurbishment before entering service under the Cruise and Maritime brand in 2013.

Would you sail on the “new” Titanic ?

An Australian billionaire has announced plans to build an exact replica of the doomed liner.

The 21st-century version of the famous ship will be historically accurate and will make its maiden voyage from England to New York in 2016.

Clive Palmer has commissioned Chinese company CSC Jinlin Shipyard to build Titanic II – a life-sized replica of the White Star Line’s ship.

A historical research team will help to draw up the plans for the vessel, which will have the same dimensions as its predecessor, and will feature nine decks and 840 rooms.

QE2 to Become Floating Hotel in Dubai

After 40 years spent sailing as a luxury liner and more than three years languishing in Dubai’s Port Rashid, Queen Elizabeth 2’s future has finally been set.

According to a statement issued this morning by Dubai Ports (DP) World and the ship’s current owners, Istithmar World, the 70,327-ton, 1,791-passenger ship will be turned into a 300-room floating hotel, and is scheduled to open in 18 months.
