The spa on board was the Atlantis Spa located on Deck 4. Caters for both ladies and gentlemen and it is advisable to book earlier on in the cruise.

On the main deck you would find the Boutique and the Port Shop. In the Boutique you would find things like clothing, accessories, Perfumes, cosmetics, jewellery and watches all at duty free prices. We managed to buy two rings as it was £28 for 2 instead of £17 for 1. The Port shop does offer basic necessities like sun cream, batteries and toiletries. Guest services was also located on this deck. We used their currency exchange as i noticed the rate was very reasonable vs the high street, i managed to check on my phone during a port day. They won’t take the Norwegian coins but otherwise really good rate. Gratuities are added to your bill at £4pppd but they don’t mind you altering or removing this all together you just fill a form out.

The Card Room is open throughout the day should anyone wish to play card games, board games or take part in organised competitions. No children under 12 in the card room. Close by on the Lido deck you would find the Gaming Tables. Available during the daytime and the evening but they will be closed when in port. there’s blackjack and roulette tables. Children under 18 not permitted at these tables.

You would find the fitness centre  up on the Sun Deck. Fully equipped including treadmills, rowing machines, exercise bikes and free weights. Fitness classes are available, some of these are free and some are around £5pp charge. They clearly stated this in the daily news letter in your cabin. On the first few days of you cruise they do have Introduction classes for the equipment.

The Boudicca has two swimming pools and 2 Jacuzzi baths. The main swimming pool is filled with sea water which circulates constantly while the ship is at sea. The 2nd is small plunge pool. they also have an exercise pool they call SwimEx Pool, which allows you to swim against a controlled current. They tell you more about this during the gym introduction classes.

The medical centre is open 24 hours a day on the Marina Deck. There was an emergency during our time on board in which a passenger had to be taken off by helicopter. I really must compliment the staff on board as they all responded really quickly and were ready and waiting for when the helicopter had arrived. The Captain informed everyone what was happening to avoid confusion and also the staff did well at trying to keep everybody away and keep the scenario private. I personally was quite disgusted at passengers rushing off and pushing around each other to try and get a look at the helicopter taking the passenger away, really disrespectful. But the staff did excellent.

If you are looking for an effective travel sickness tablet i took Stugeron. I used to take Travelleze pastilles as these were great but they have been discontinued in the UK so needed something just as effective. It’s the Cinnarizine in them that works. I believe these really helped me especially when passing through the Orkneys and Shetland Islands as the sea was pretty rough that morning and i had to lay up until it eased off. However i wasn’t sick and i do think this was down to the tablets as normally i would be without any. Me and Jonathan both missed Breakfast and Dinner. We made up for it at tea time.
