Another new first at sea

Those of you who keep an eye on the world of cruising will be hearing about many new ships and new features at sea.

MSC have been one of the latest to announce they are creating the first Crystal Cabin at sea.

MSC already have a partnership with Swarovski and are very famous for their glittering Swarovski staircases on some of their ships. Now they are taking things one step further and introducing the industry’s first stateroom adorned with Swarovski crystals. This brand new cabin will be situated as part of the luxurious MSC Yacht Club complex on the new ship MSC Bellissima.

Surprisingly MSC already know the cabin number. Cabin 16081 will have 700,000 individual crystals, including crystallized furniture elements such as bedside tables, sideboards and the in-room coffee table. Other crystallized features include the custom-designed wall sconces and the interior artwork, and guests will be able to easily identify the room from the outside, thanks to the crystallized door numbering. This cabin will be bookable from mid November on wards. An official date hasn’t been released as of yet.

On top of this, MSC Bellissima will feature more than 61,000 crystals embedded in the ship’s 96-step central staircases, as well as crystallized wallpaper in the MSC Yacht Club and a custom crystallized LED display built into the design of the Champagne Bar on Deck 7.

MSC have said that cabin 16018 will be priced very similarly to the other Yacht Club accommodation already on board. Also any cruisers wishing to book this particular cabin will want to do so well in advance. That’s understandable with them only having 1. MSC Yacht Club offers suites in an exclusive keycard-entry-only area of the ship. Yacht Club cabins include butler service and access to a private restaurant and deck spaces in addition to the standard amenities MSC Bellissima has to offer.

I am surprised there will only be 1 but maybe more will come later down the line if they prove to be popular. Have you done MSC Yacht Club? What did you think? Leave us your comments below.
