Seasons to Sail.

Before we cruise it is vital that we match the right destination with the right season or time of year. This will depend on your individual needs and expectations. When I worked on the high Street and couples came in for a Honeymoon in July for example but wanted somewhere Far Away and Exotic because that is what you do for a Honeymoon my advice was to closer to home at that time of the year as we have amazing weather in the Mediterranean so pay for overpriced destinations to just get rained on.

I have put together this little list to assist you when deciding on your special cruise holiday. It may be a family break, last minute bargain or something from our Bucket List it must be perfect in every way.

Alaska is a very short season compared to some best months are from May to September. You will get to see various wildlife like moose, caribou, bears, puffins, eagles and whales.

Australia is an all year round destination but from November to April will see the most ships as the winter season’s weather is more settled. It gets very wet and humid in the summer months.

Canada and New England This is usually only a month or two in September and October to take in the Fall and wonder at the amazing colours.

Caribbean again a year round destination but summer months can experience hurricanes. October to April is the direst and warmest time to travel.

Dubai and Middle East. Perfect winter sun destination from December to April. Summer sets temperature up into the high 40’s making it unbearable.costa fortuna

Far East another short season lasting from December to March to get the best sea conditions and humidity. April best for Cherry Blossom in Japan.

Hawaii and Pacific. All year from Honolulu but larger ships come from LA and San Diego between October and April. Pacific coastal cruises run through September between LA and San Francisco. This one is on my list.

Mediterranean another year round destination but from April to October is the busiest as winter months can be quite wet.

Northern Europe. May to September is best for the Baltic and Norwegian Fjords although some speciality cruises take in the Northern Lights i winter.

South America. November to April as in the Southern Hemisphere their winter is our summer.

Whenever or wherever you wish to travel hope this will help you plan.
