Azamara 2 more amazing ports of call.

I have a picture of me taken on the 50th Birthday cruise taken in the exact same spot as the one above. Nothing on this picture postcard
port had changed at all in the last 5 years. When I looked out of our window in the morning I still got the same wow sensation as the last time I was lucky enough to visit Santorini. Perched high on the cliff top all blues and whites still took my breath away. This time I took the cable car up to the top although it is more of a bundle of 6 man gondolas rather than cable car and at 5 euros was worth every penny. This is one way and you can only buy one way at a time. The winding cobbled streets were packed with the normal tourist shops, bars. restaurants and fish foot spas. Yes they were everywhere so we had to have a go as we intended to walk down.fish dr
Zara and I found it quite relaxing after getting over the ticklish feeling for the first few minutes. We paid around the same price as you would in the UK.
Lots of churches and a pretty square with local musicians playing Zobra The Greek on bouzouki very authentic and a statue of ….. yes Donkeys. Who could go to Santorini and not see the Donkeys even though they were more like horses thank donkeyssantorini donk
Beautiful crafts pottery and glass were very tempting, Zara brought a piece to take home now that was another story carrying it down the steps back to the ship. That walk was not as easy as we thought along the the heat and the smell we very happy when we reached the bottom.
We had a lovely Greek lunch overlooking the Med with 3 ships docked beside us. We decided not to venture inland as the views were enough to entertain our needs.zara sant

Mykonos famous for its windmills and pelican is another Greek jewel in the Mediterranean. Again blue and white but also with some sandy beaches within walking distance of the port which on arrival had a bustling fruit, veg and fish market with all home grown local produce and fish still on local fishing boats. So Shirley Valentine.windmills myk
We made our way to an area called little Venice which was just what it says, a maze of beautiful kept streets with amazing shopping a class above most other ports lots of designer boutiques and high end gifts. At every turn was an ally which lead down to the sea which was dotted with bars of all sorts from ultra modern to typical Greek Tavernas the pelican even made an appearance here. He waddled along through the crowd up the steps and sat right outside the kitchen door waiting for tit bits .pelican
Yes there is island tours and water tours at both islands but just to wonder around and enjoy the feel of the resort was well worth it. You can spend money on all excursions on offer but I felt with these two there was no need. We were tendered in both but no problem as the tenders ranstreet myk continuously .
