SS Antoinette a stunning river cruise
I have just been to Amsterdam to visit some river boats. There were 5 boats which were moored along side eachother.
Uniworlds SS Antoinette is state of the art river boat. Boasting the ultimate in luxury and she actually has a swimming pool on board. Now as you can see by the pictures river boats are not as big as ocean liners and do not have all the restrauntes which you may be used to. This does not reduce the quality which you would expect.
The rooms were not as big as Ocean cruises however they were spacious and well presented.
The cabin I stayed in had a french balcony. Now this means that you do not have a seperate balcony space, however the window retracts to allow you to view the exquisite scenery which is what river cruising is all about.
The food was second to non and with the complimentry beer or wine with dinner the experience was fantastic. With Uniworld you also get door to door complimentry transfers.
Remember river cruising is not about the boat really it is about the destinations. SS Antoinettte is on The Rhine going between Basel and Amsterdam visiting Breisach, Keln, Germersheim, Rudesheim, Koblenz and Cologne, the cruise is called Castles along the Rhine. As this boat is a super liner this is the only river it can sail on due to the width and height of the bridges along the river.
With complimentry excursions in all ports river cruising is a great way to visit inner Europe and places where ocean ships cannot reach!
