Speciality dining…is it worth the extra?

Many cruise lines nowadays have Specialty dining on board. Now what is this? Generally it is a separate restaurant on the ship where a different menu is available. This menu can be more attractive and set to for example, Steak, seafood, Asian cuisine.

For instance on PandO Azura, one of the specialty restaurants is of Asian cuisine and the menu is set by celebrity chef Atul Kochhar with a cover charge of approximately £20-£30.

On Ventura, Oceana and Aurora the Speciality chef is Marco Pierre White, and on Arcadia and Oriana is Gary Rhodes.

For restaurants on Royal Caribbean there is a cover charge which can range from $3.50 – $20 whether it is at a 50’s style diner or Chopps Grill steak house.

On Princess’ ships you have Sabatini’s Italian cuisine, Sterling steakhouse and Crown Grill where you will be entertained with the ‘open’ theatre style kitchen where chefs custom prepare shellfish.

Now the food in the main restaurants on all ships is excellent however for something that little bit special book yourself a night at one of the specialty places and taste the difference. You’ll get a more ambient surrounding with one to one waiter service.

These places do get booked up very quickly so be warned book as soon as you get on board.

The Chopps Grill Fillet minion is to die for and the goats cheese soufflé on Celebrity is a must!!!
