Princess go green

You have heard of the new electric car where you plug in to charge up the battery, well the same is happening to cruise ships.

Instead of keeping the ship running 24 hours in port,  nine of  Princess’ fleet can now plug into power sources on the dock side.  This is a much cleaner and environmental way of powering the ships.

The port of San Francisco built a shore power station and Princess fitted their ships with compatable connections at a cost of $7 million.  Only three other ports have the same plug in power sources, Juneau, Seattle and Vancouver.

Hopefully Princess’ competetors will follow suit in the coming years.
