My Christmas treat to me

Well I went to San Francisco in Los Angeles for Christmas.  I have a friend who works out there and I hadn’t seen him for 18 months so I thought why not.

I booked the flights 4 days before going fully aware that there maybe snow disruption.  Oh and was there disruption.

I flew from Birmingham to Paris and had to check in again on the transfer desk along with 400 more people.  My flight from Paris to San Francisco was delayed by 4 hours so I had just enough time to get a boarding pass and run through immigration and security only to be told that there were people who were delayed longer than me so I was bumped off the plane and booked on the flight the next day!!

I was put in a hotel because of this however the transfer was an hour and a half wait to get on the transfer bus as so many people were delayed.  I had 20 euros on me just enough for a few beers that strainght to bed.

I think I got off lightly after hearing about some other peoples adventures.

I boarded the next day and departed on time.  On reaching San Francisco I had forgotten about the meat sandwich I had in my bag.  So when the question ‘ have you any food on you’ at immigration I thought Oh No I have.  However instead of the $3000 fine I could have got I was allowed to go through fine free, (Thank you to the Immigration officer who helped me out).

Ok so now I’m waiting for my bag.  The carousel is empty.  My bag was not there. ‘It will be delivered to your hotel within 48hrs’ I was informed. Huhhhhggghhh

So I get to my room and first thing is to buy toiletries as the journey was a little whiffy Phewww!!  Once that was done I could face my friend who I was visiting.  I also had to borrow shoes off him as mine were write off’s.

I did the tourist things, Alcatraz (blog coming soon) and took a ride on the World famous trolly car.  For me San Francisco was a lovely city.  It has been 15 years since I last went there and it has changed alot.

My bag arrived as advised and the rest of my break went very well.
