Fred Olsen to buy Oriana?

Avid cruisers know by now that older ships within fleets can be sold to smaller companies who will perform an overhaul and re brand them which is a cheaper way than buying a new build ship.

For Instance Celebrity Mercury was in the Celebrity fleet from 1997-2001 and was then sold onto TUI and Entered service with TUI Cruises as Mein Schiff 2 in February 2011

Celebrity Galaxy was in the Celebrity fleet from 1996-2009 was sold to TUI and entered service with TUI Cruises as Mein Schiff in May 2009

Celebrity Zenith was in the Celebrity fleet from 1992-2007 and was sold to Pullmantur cruises in 2007

On a welcome home call, which we regularly have with clients post sailing to check everything was okay on their sailing, said she had heard rumors that P&O were looking to sell Oriana to Fred Olsen cruises!  Oriana entered service in 1995 and holds 1880 passengers and is just under 70,000 tons which would be a major investment by Fred Olsen as their largest ship is Balmoral at 1350 passengers and 43,500 tons.

Fred Olsen could do with a slightly larger ship as many of their Itineraries sell very fast. This is due to the fantastic service Fred Olsen provide and the repeat passengers they have.

Has anyone else heard this rumor?
