Family Cruising

Well the last few weeks have been very busy at http://www.cruise.co.uk/ with the schools breaking up soon many families are looking to get away on a cruise.

With the average family consisting of 2.4 children the spaces on cruise ships are limited.  All cruise ships only have a certain amount of 3 and 4 berth cabins.  Once these are gone they are gone.  The cost then increases if you book 2 x 2 berth cabins as the first two passengers always pay the full adult price.

Cruise lines have to abide by the strict maritime health and safety.  If the allotted age range has been reached i.e the ships can only have a certain amount of toddlers, young children and teenagers on board.

Why havn’t any cruise lines thought of this and built a ship with more 3 and 4 berth cabins.  It is all about money I think!  The bar revenue will reduce because the children cannot buy alcohol, which is a main source of revenue.

If there were more larger family cabins then the cruise line will have loyal passengers who will book time after time so in the long run the revenue will balance out.

So this is my rant over.  I hope cruise lines will take heed of my advise (probably not) and lets get more family cabins available on the open seas!!
