Duty free..Is it still worth it?

With the price of everything seems to be rising is Duty Free still a saving?

Is this still doable? These days, everyone is looking for an edge,  an opportunity to save money in any way possible. And, since cruise passengers really maximize their saving opportunities by shopping for duty-free bargains while they travel.

A poll was taken and guess what…Alcohol was the most bought item.  The thing is that in the Caribbean, us Brits have to fly back and so we are limited to an allowance.  Cigarettes and fine jewelry were in second place.

The best place to get real bargains are the ports of St Thomas and St Maarten, with jewelry a must.  Look at the price on board then see what the price is ashore.  Barter with the shop managers, you can get great deals on watches too.

These ports do have great electrical shops too.  Just think about the warranty though if you do buy as you can’t really return it very easily, its not like you bought it from your local Comet store.  I bought a laptop whilst I was there and they threw in a digital camera too because I bartered.

So always be vocal.  Us British are too reserved.  You might enjoy it !
