A Guide to Shore Excursions – Barbados

As our summer is almost over- have we actually had any summer??? A lot of my customers have been looking at cruises to escape the winter and the Caribbean has been a popular choice. With Barbados being one of the ports  many ships to sail from,  I thought I would give you an insight on what’s available to see and do on this beautiful island.

If it is the Caribbean dream you are looking for, this port will not disappoint, With with fantastic beaches and plenty of scenery you will be spoiled for choice on what to do. Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados and the main street is Broad Street. Here you will find the Barbados Parliament building, St Mary’s Church which is one of the oldest churches in Barbados and you will also find National Hero’s Square – a memorial for the islands national hero’s.

For those of you who are more adventurous, try swimming with the hawksbill and green turtles. This excursion will give you the opportunity to swim with these amazing creatures then you can try snorkelling around the shipwrecks. This is something I would definitely love to do!

Head to Harrison’s Cave in St Thomas. This cave is full of stalactites and  stalagmites in winding tunnels with a spectacular waterfall below the ground. A sight not to be missed!

Take a tour around Mount Gay Visitor Center and learn about the making of the worlds oldest existing brand of rum , Mount Gay Rum. Here you will learn and of course sample this famous rum.
