Shock Threat of Extinction for Another Race of Animals

Love them or Hate them Towel Animals are standard issue in most cabins and cruise lines – or at least have been but there is real danger that these Extraordinary and sometimes Exotic creatures could be wiped off the planet and become a Mythical Legend

Towel animals created by room stewards during turndown service, are one of cruise travel’s longest-standing traditions. (The towel dodo bird reportedly made an appearance on Titanic.)

I was told by a passenger recently that when he asked his cabin steward if he would create towel animals he said he was ‘not allowed to’ and if his manager found out he risked being sacked!

Towel Animals delight most passengers on many of the major cruise lines. No one knows for absolute certain where the concept of the towel animal came from and there is no single individual who claims to be the originator or inventor

After a day of sightseeing or lounging on the deck, many people are delighted to find a towel animal in their cabin.

The swan seems to be popular to present to couples, monkeys, rabbits and elephants all have their places among the pantheon of towel animals – it’s like a cotton based origami ark – with even an anachronistic dinosaur or two thrown in for good measure.

Towel animal folding is such a popular phenomena that many ships have special classes showing how to make a towel animal so you can continue the enjoyment at home – if you miss the lectures on board there are many tutorials on line!
