Dinner at Teppanyaki

On the second night of our two night mini trip to Hamburg on board the NCL Jade, we were treated to dinner in the Specialty restaurant – Teppanyaki. The normal cover charge for this restaurant is $29 per person and I would definitely recommend pre booking this before you board, as each night the restaurant was showing full on the dinner menu screens which are dotted around the ship.

The restaurant seated 32 people, with 8 people around each cooking station.  You start with your starters of Miso Soup and a Seaweed Salad which has a ginger dressing. Whilst you eating this you order your main course so the chef can start preparing it in front of you. I opted for the Shogun – which is a Teppanyaki combination of Steak and Chicken. All the main courses come with Garlic Fried Rice and Japanese Teppanyaki Vegetables with an Onion and Creamy Mustard Dipping Sauces. The Teppanyaki restautant also has its own 2 cocktails which are Sake infused Wasabi cocktails – if you have the Ultimate drinks package then they are included within the drinks package. These cocktails were certainly potent and out of the two the Wasabi Cocktail was the nicest (although a little potent)

Once the main course was finished there was a choice of two desserts – a plate of fruits or a Green tea cake. I chose the Green Tea cake and this was very nice.

As you will see from the following video, dining in Teppanyaki is all about the experience, the food and the show which is put on by the Chef’s, with them showing tricks, juggling knifes and singing songs.

Dinner at Teppanyaki.

The Teppanyaki restaurtant can be found on the following NCL Ships:

NCL Breakaway, Dawn, Epic, Escape, Gem, Getaway, Jade, Jewel, Pearl, Spirit, Star, Sun and the Pride of America.

I was impressed with my dinner in Teppanyaki and would recommend anyone sailing on the above ships to dine there at least once during your cruise, but to pre book before you sail.

Have you dined in Teppanyaki and what was your thoughts?

Have a good couple of weeks and hope the sun comes back out

Kerry
