Kerry's Cruise Guide

About Me

Hello there

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog and in getting to know more about me

My name is Kerry James and I have worked within Travel for the last 19 years. I have worked in different areas within the industry – selling package holidays, around the world flights, tailor made long-haul holidays and most importantly the cruise industry. I have specialized in cruising since July 2013 and could not think of anything more interesting to sell than cruising, because it is such an exciting, dynamic and innovative product.

Cruises has always been a personal interest to me and majority of my personal holidays are now on board cruises. I have the rest of my family hooked on Cruising and living just 40 minutes from Southampton means we are normally lucky enough to be on board ship within 60 minutes of leaving home.

I live in Chichester with my partner and work from home. With 2 race courses on my doorstop (Goodwood and Fontwell) a day at the races is always a great day out. Other interests include shopping (like most women), going to the movies and going to Zumba.

That’s a little about me – I hope you enjoy reading my blog and would love to hear your views on my posts.

Places I have visited

Due to my extensive career in the travel industry and my desire to see the world I have been very fortunate to have visited some beautiful places in the world. Some closer to home then others, but all have left me with lasting memories.

EUROPE

Amsterdam, Austria, Balearic Islands, Canary Islands, Channel Islands, Corsica, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Monaco, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom

This is me and my partner at the Briskdal Glacier, Norway. We had a wonderful voyage in the Fjords aboard P&O’s Oceana.

My favourite place in Europe has to be Prague – the city has so much to see and do. The stunning Prague Castle, the beautiful Astronomical Clock, Wenceslas Square and the Charles Bridge. The city is very easy to navigate using public transport and has a lovely Christmas market. The city can also be visited whilst on a river cruise or as a great starting or ending place.

FAR FLUNG DESTINATIONS

Australia, Bahamas, Canada, Cuba, Djerba, Egypt, Jamaica, Mexico, Miami, Morocco, Orlando, South Africa, St Thomas, Turkey.

My favourite far flung destination is Australia – I was lucky enough to visit Australia earlier this year. On my trip we visited Cairns and Melbourne. We explored the very scenic Great Ocean Road.

Whilst in Australia I experienced cuddling a Koala Bear, hot air ballooning over the Atherton Tablelands, seeing Kangaroos and Koalas in the wild, helicopter ride over the 12 apostles. The country is so diverse and has different climates and cruising around this area would be fantastic.

My favourite port of call is: Funchal in Madeira:

We called into this port on the Independence of the Seas. We pre-booked a shore excursion and went through the streets on a toboggan and came back down the mountains on the cable car. A beautiful way to view this Island.

The ship had berthed just a 15 minute walk from the centre of Funchal so if you decided not to do any excursions it is easily accessible. Other ideas to do whilst in the port is to visit the Botanical gardens, have tea at the famous Reid’s Palace or even go wine tasting for the Madeira Wine.

I would be delighted to discuss travel tips, itineraries and any other cruising needs with you individually. I feel due to my own travel experiences I can provide you with that personal touch.
