Ricky Martin, Andrea Bocelli and other stars to perform at MSC Seaside naming ceremony

Today is the day the MSC Seaside is officially named, she has Stars lined up such as Ricky Martin, Sophia Loren & Andrea Bocelli to take part in the naming ceremony. This will take place in the port of Miami.

Seaside – MSC’s 14th ship – set sail for its new Miami home from the Italian port Trieste two weeks ago.

On December 23, two days after MSC Seaside arrives in Miami, it will begin seven-night eastern and western Caribbean itineraries.

Here are some facts and figures for this magnificent ship.

MSC Seaside rewrites the rule book of cruise ship design, blending indoor and outdoor areas to connect you with the sea like never before. Circling the entire ship as low as Deck 8 is a unique seafront promenade lined with places to eat, drink, shop, swim and sunbathe. And you can enjoy more superb views from the two-deck glass-walled atrium and panoramic elevators.

Size 160,000 ton

Passengers 4134

Seaside Class is part of the privately owned line’s €9 billion fleet expansion plan that will allow the company to double its capacity by 2026 — with two more, even bigger, ships on order.

Each ship, to be built at Italy’s Fincantieri shipyard, will have 463,000 square feet of public space, encompassing panoramic elevators with sea views, suspended glass floors, a giant aqua park and a low-level outdoor promenade filled with shops, bars and alfresco dining. Seaside will offer the largest ratio of outdoor space of any cruise ship at sea. The Seaside Class will be the largest cruise ships ever built in Italy.

Fellow Passengers

MSC Seaside sails Caribbean itineraries from Miami, meaning it carries a large percentage of English- and Spanish-speaking cruisers hailing from Florida and other southern states on the U.S. East Coast. The passenger base is split between new cruisers and repeat travelers with an average age in the 40s.

MSC Seaside Dress Code

Daytime dress is casual, with people sporting everything from jeans and T-shirts to bathing suits and flip-flops. In the evenings it’s dressier, but more smart casual than formal, except for the two “elegant” (not formal) nights per cruise. Jackets for men (tie optional) and dresses or pantsuits for women are appropriate, but the code isn’t strictly enforced. Suits, tuxes and ball gowns are not necessary, but many passengers do choose to dress to the nines, particularly on “Meet the Captain” night.

Elegant dining with breathtaking sea views

On MSC Seaside, you can enjoy the spectacular ocean views while you eat. And with nine delightful eateries to choose from, including five sophisticated speciality restaurants, dining on MSC Seaside is as varied as it is delicious. Families are superbly catered for, and there’s even a dedicated “kids only” buffet. For the perfect pre-dinner aperitif, late night drink or daytime refreshment, there is a choice of twenty smart bars and lounges, each with its own unique atmosphere.

Fun and excitement for all ages, including standout family activities

MSC Seaside offers endless fun for the whole family, with a full-sized bowling alley, a dedicated kids only restaurant, and the most interactive, multi-story water park at sea featuring 5 different water slides, an AquaPlayTM area designed for tots and an adventure trail. In addition, MSC Seaside boasts colourful kids’ play areas created in partnership with LEGO® and Chicco®.
