IONA IS COMING…………… NEW SHIP FOR P&O IN 2020

The long awaited news about the latest addition to the fleet with P&O has finally been announced, after no less than 30 000 people entered a draw to name the new ship and the lucky winner will be going to the VIP launch.

Iona, as a celebration of the sea and our island nation. Named after the tranquil island in the Inner Hebrides; known for its stunning landscape and epic views of the ocean. Iona too is set to make the sea the star. From many of her innovative spaces you’ll be able to appreciate the beauty of the sea, and views of the ever-changing coastline vistas and ports of call.

As with all the rest of the ships in the fleet, the emphasis will be on food, drink and entertainment.

It will feature a half-mile “Lanai” deck — an outdoor, covered promenade that will include alfresco restaurants and bars.

The focal point of the ship will be the Atrium, which will feature triple-deck glass panels. There will also be a grand staircase, a gallery and overhead walkways.

A giant dome on top of the ship will be one of four onboard entertainment spaces, featuring aerial performances, projections onto the roof and immersive shows.

The ship will have 17 eateries, including seven speciality restaurants (current flagship Britannia has just three), 12 bars, 13 entertainment venues, three pop-up entertainment spaces/venues, four swimming pools (three outside and one inside) and 16 whirlpools.

It will be the largest ship built exclusively for the British market and will be able to accommodate 5,200 guests.

Iona will go on sale in September this year and I am sure there will be lots of interest so be sure to book early! I cant wait to see what itineraries she will do and look forward to seeing what she has to offer, Is this a ship that would appeal to you?
