Well I thought we would visit Bergen next, on our trip around Norway Fjords. Bergen is a UNESCO site and worth the title.
Bergen definitely has the most spectacular views, from beautiful painted shops to stunning fountains, not to mention the views from the top of the mountain.
How do I get there you might ask! The venicular train takes you of course. I would recommend that you visit this first as it does get quite busy with tours. Not for anyone with hight issues. We disembarked early, usually a coach from the ship to either the town or the edge of the port, as Bergen is a working port. Then follow the arrows on the pavement until you come to a beautiful statue with a waterfall and stepping stones. This area is pedestrianised. Just before the statue the road goes up to your left and between the shops. Straight up brings you to the venicular train. Its about £9 per person and is worth every penny. You can see you ship in all its glory from this fantastic view point and all the fjord surrounding it.
The views as you can see are stunning. There is lots of little walks around the area and the odd Troll or two can be seen . I will say the coffee and pastries were beautiful.
Then when you come back down, head back towards the statue and take a left half way down to visit the painted houses and shops. You will find lots of shops (a beautiful Christmas shop, watch the stairs) and bars here to sit and people watch and if you are lucky enough the Fish market may be on and you can visit that too.
There are boat tours that take you around the stunning Fjords and for those of you who like a thrill the fast boats are there too.
