And its nearly that time again !!!!! Malta here I come.

Hello everyone,

I will soon be doing my first ever fly cruise with P and O, only 5 Sleeps to go as my grandson always says. I am very excited to be going back to Venice, (last visited when I was 16 years old) many moons ago. I wonder how it might have changed. I here tell the prices in St Marks Square are still extortionate. I will of course be updating you all on my return . I did however Rep Malta for 8 months back in 2008 so I believe I am tour guide for me, hubby and our friends. The red bus route is fab, you can book online before you go.

Back in March 2008

I have not done a fly cruise before and I must admit finding the packing hard going. 23kg seems a lot but when you have 4 formal nights , not quite as much as you need. I refuse to pay for extra luggage at £20 for 5kg, so I will have to make do , I have remembered though, toiletries to a minimum as P and O always have fabulous shampoo and shower gel so less weight there. I also am aware I can buy sun tan lotion on board the ship.

The hairdryers are fine on board too which is all less to take with. (If I was going from Southampton I would take mine f course, just because you can). I am hoping I will have a lot more room in the cabin as taking a lot less stuff. Normally I would walk around the house thinking ”oh might need that or that might come in handy”. I am how ever having to be much more frugal.

 so to avoid this :

I have narrowed down to necessities now.

  1. one plug for the phones and kindle as I managed to find one that has 4 usb ports.
  2. toothbrush (toothpaste available on board)
  3. at least clean underwear for everyday (lol, may have to wash a few items , as they do have a launderette and if its good enough for Jane McDonald , its good enough for me!)
  4. 8 dresses as light weight as possible (my friend has found some reversible ones , what a fab idea)
  5. Shoes are going in my hand luggage
  6. the worst thing to be honest is my husbands suit. I think we may have to pay for ironing service. (so that’s what the on board credit is for!)
  7. Jewellery to a minimum and then just tops and bottoms I can mix and match. oh and a bit of makeup, lippy should do it !

I really hope I do not forget anything.
