Your Not On Holiday To Rest

EXPLORER OF THE SEA

As you may gather working from home is not exactly the best way to keep the old ticker working or keep off the weight. An early decision me & hubby made was to make use of the Gym and exercise facilities. For 12 of out the 14 nights on board Explorer of the sea we and about 10 others would be up on the top deck on the jogging/walking track, and it is surprising how many people are dedicated to trying to keep fit. The best time to go is early in the morning and BEFORE you eat.  I thought this was supposed to be a holiday!

I thought we were on holiday – how wrong David set the alarm for 7.00am every morning and insisted I get up too for our early morning jog.

But then again the scenery we saw was stunning especially in the South of France and Corsica watching the sun come up.

 Our Jogging Track……….

Swimming was a bit hit and miss to be honest, our children are grown up now so we didn’t really take into account that the middle of July the ship would be rammed with children, we found out there were 1000 children on board, so as you can imagine the swimming pools were quite full, however on Explorer they did have separate hot tubs for the youngsters which was a blessing, and in the adult only Solarium we found heaven this is where we tended to go most sea days, to escape and to have a quite drink by the pool.

We also found we couldn’t get away from the exercise whilst on shore – Villfranche was full of steps, ok for us 2 but a lot of elderly passengers from the ship did tend to struggle with them in this lovely resort and decided not to venture up into the village.

Tender to Shore.
