Jade To Be Pimped

Norwegian Jade is going in for  refurbishment – NCL are going to be spending a huge amount of money on her before her debut  in Southampton for the start of her Spring & Summer season in 2017.

It is the first time NCL have had a ship based out of Southampton since 2010, this is a good idea for the American owned cruise line. Norwegian Jade launched in 2006 and i was lucky enough to go on her the following year with some friends, my first thoughts when looking at the ship was Butlins at sea, she was yellow, pink, Lime all sorts of weird and wonderful colours which would look good in Miami, but going from Rotterdam in November it didn’t have quite the safe effect.

Well she is now going to be more contemporary apparently with creams and neutral colours. They are looking at spending in the region of $40 million on her this will  get rid of the Purple, Gold & Red furniture and carpets and in will go dark veneer woods and more sober colours.

Also to be added will be “The Cavern Club” a music bar based on Liverpool lad’s the Beatles – this will be really popular especially with the Brits when they are on board.

All the cabins are going to be upgraded too including the Haven Suites etc, food is not going to be getting away with it either, the menu’s are going to be vastly improved by using more expensive ingredients and making the most of sister company Oceania to get some ideas no doubt.

I really enjoyed NCL true I didn’t like the colour scheme on her, but the facilities were really good and especially her FREESTYLE dining concept, Its brilliant with so many of us not wanting to be tied to a particular time of restaurant each evening – to dine where you want when you want is brilliant..
