Hurray An Airline Has Seen Sence

Bravo to American Airlines- for being brave in making a statement and I for one relish it, they are going to be charging for overhead baggage on flights, this has got to be the best news i’ve heard in a long time.

Having recently returned from a flight from Gibraltar with a large well known airline I welcome this news & would say a lot of other people will do too.  When did it suddenly become the “Norm”  to  use the overhead  storage section on the aircraft as a SUITCASE hold?  With SUITCASES larger than the one I had  paid to have checked in. Is it that people want to get a freebie out of the airline or are they just plain rude?

The airline crew on our flight had so much time taken up trying to juggle cases from one overhead locker to another, one shouting at passengers “your bags are at bottom end” the situation got so bad 6 of the passengers had  their SUITCASES taken from them and told they would be going in the hold  as there was no room left at the Inn. Now for everyone with normal size flight bags or holdalls this is just not fair and of course a lot of us had to then store our small bags at our feet.

The is obviously a situation of people trying to get a way without having to pay for bags in the hold, you can not argue and say it’s  saving time as it takes no time at all these days on the carousel.

Gone are the days of getting on a plane putting your bag over your head and jetting off, lets hope more airlines decide to take a leaf out of American Airlines  book and follow suit.

Yes airlines charge for seats, food,  bags, extra leg room etc but if you can afford to fly you can afford to pay for your all of your bags surely.

Let me know your comments and thoughts.
