How Do I Pay My Account

Not everyone is aware of how on board accounts are paid  especially if you are new to cruising, I get asked this question quite often, so I thought it may be a good idea to shed some light on the situation for you.

If we take for example P&O, Princess or Fred Olen cruise – On a sailing from the UK whilst completing the check in process at the port Southampton or Dover, you will be asked for your credit/debit card details which are to be used to pay for your on board account. When you have given this information to the staff, you will be issued with your on cruise card, this acts as your door key and also when your purchase anything on board you will be asked to show your card in order to register your purchases.

Once on board your ship when ever you purchase anything such as drinks from the bar or maybe spa treatments etc it will be registered for you. When in your cabin you are able to keep up to date with your account at all times. On your TV you will be able to tune into the ships programme which will  include your personal account – really helpful it will list all of your purchases from when you board up to your last day.

Not all cruise lines operate this way Royal Caribbean and Celebrity for example prefer you to complete with your online details your debit/credit card information thus saving some time at the port- also as they are American owned will ask how you would like your transaction to be either USA or UK and will ask who you prefer to convert the currency for you.

Norwegian Cruise lines have  created an app for your smart phone which can be used at sea for free and will track your account instantly.

So all good and as clear as mud…. Need any help?
