Absolutely Nepaling

Is Mount Everest The World’s tallest peak growing deadlier?

I have been reading very distressing reports over the past 3-4 weeks that adventurers are dying in record numbers ascending and descending Mount |Everest.

Its always been one of the Worlds deadliest peaks and you could argue that extremist sports enthusiasts would likely already know the risks involved in climbing 8000 meters up.

That said the reason for 2019 being the record number of deaths is absolutely disturbing.

Its been reported that Nepal who control most of the licences have basically given out far too many over the past 5 years. This is resulting in effectively a queue of people waiting to reach the summit.

One surviving Burkas said the main reason for the deaths is because with poor weather conditions, lack of light and avalanche warnings the window of time to reach the top is very limited. This means there is a large group that goes together and they have to wait for their turn and share the same rope coming back down.

This is very dangerous and coupled with this is has been proven that people are having to wait far too long and diminish their oxygen supplies, this means would reserves they would have had to get them back down to base camp are running out and they effectively dye gasping for air on Earths most Mountain.

I wonder how difficult it has to be to limit the number of licences next season to stop over crowding and therefore less time up at the top. I am by no means experienced in adventure sports or climbing but it seems an expensive hobbies to me and i’m sure those people that take part would rather pay additional money and have less people to compete with especially if it means returning back to Tera Firma safety.

This year has also seen reports of previously frozen bodies being exposed due to ice melting where it has never melted before.

It seems global warning is turning up some gruesome surprises even on Everest.
