Multi Million pound makeover for Aurora…..a wopping 26 million pounds

P&O cruises have announced its plans for a 26 million pound make over for Aurora this winter, she will be the first ship in the fleet to proudly show the new bold livery design.

 

 

The refurbishment will take place from November 29th to December 18th so don’t panic if your booked on board for the Xmas & New year cruise as she will be ready for this, then she will sail on the South America & Pacific Adventure World cruise itinerary departing on January 8th 2015.

Aurora was launched in 2000 and was last refitted in 2009, the planned changes for 2014 are:

A new look livery design, this features a contemporary version of the Union flag to highlight the lines British heritage, also blue funnels with illuminated images of the rising sun are featured.

 

 

There’s many changes to the dining experience on board which  with the introduction of Sindhu restaurant for evening fine dining, this is replacing the library on deck 8. The Sindhu restaurant has an Indian fusion menu which has been designed by none other than Michelin-star celebrity chef Atul Kochhar.

 

The Glass House restaurant and wine bar is replacing  Cafe Bordeaux on deck 8, this will available for brunch, lunch and dinner . Wines selected by expert and TV presenter  Ollie Smith will be displayed and a new wine system will allow these premium wines to be purchased by the glass.

The buffet restaurant on Lido deck will be completely refurbished with new decor..

In the evening The Beach House menu replaces the Pennant Grill and the introduction of Freedom dining to the Medina Restaurant with the addition of more tables for 2 so guests to dine together.

If your still hungry after all these changes then you can also wander down to the sidewalk cafe and grab a costa coffee at the new “Grab & Go ” counter which is a great alternative for breakfast or lunch on the go.

Where has the library gone I hear you ask , don’t panic for all you book readers its been relocated onto deck 13 to the current cyb@study area adjacent to the Crow’s Nest  .

Once you’ve wined and dined yourselves then its onto the casino with its new open-plan design , new furniture and improved stage area for the evenings entertainment with an upgrade of all sound and light equipment in the theatre and show lounge.

For all you ladies who pamper then head towards the refurbished Oasis Spa , that’s of course after you’ve visited the shops which are also undergoing an extensive refurbishment…. after spending all your time checking out the new restaurants  it would be rude not to sample the spa ladies wouldn’t it, and it’s somewhere to rejuvenate ourselves whilst topping up our on baord account.

Once you’ve sampled the restaurants, chilled in the spa, spent up in the shops and had a flurry in the casino its time to hit the pillow in your cabin and check out the new soft furnishings for all the cabins.
