Thomson are keeping the cruising Spirit alive!

As you can probably tell I do have a soft spot for the likes of Thomson Cruises from my days of old when I worked on the high street and had to try and convince all you guys that cruising was the next big thing. The way that I got many people into cruising was by getting people to try a week on a Thomson ship with the selling points of great itineraries which were very port rich, very good value and the clinchers which was local flights and no tips to pay.

I’ve noticed a big return to Thomson recently and had Put that down to them taking two bigger ships from Royal Caribbean the Discovery and Discovery 2 which seem to have breathed fresh life into what was an ageing fleet. I’ve also found that they have been brilliant for anyone looking to go away last minute as they have had availability that the other cruise lines simply don’t.

What’s really pleasing is that a lot of the loyal regular Thomson cruise passengers still like the older smaller ships such as the Majesty, Celebration and the Spirit and I think Thomson have taken notice of that. So much so that they have now decided to keep the Spirit for what looks like another year at least which will take her up to 15 in the Thomson fleet.

The Spirit’s last sailing was supposed to be in November of this year but due to her popularity with guests and the fact Thomson are very much in demand at the minute Thomson have just launched her 2018 sailing programme which is brilliant news. Even better news is the fact that they have Free All Inclusive upgrades for a limited time. She will be doing some really nice classical Mediterranean sailings out of Palma and Malaga so will have plenty of flights from local UK airports.

What I always say to customers looking at Thomson is always that the food and entertainment is very good and underrated so much so that I was not aware that the Spirit won an award for the entertainment onboard which is something that you make only expect on one of the larger new mega ships.

So all in all I think we need to say cheers to Thomson for keeping us in good Spirits.
