Are you Discovering Thomson?

For quite sometime now Thomson have been seen by many as the poor relation in the cruise world. The perception was that they may be ok for a first cruise to see if you like it or would maybe look at if you wanted last minute on a budget with local flights and a nice itinerary.

Most people would not look at Thomson for your main cruise as the ships were to old and small and not a patch on some of the the other cruise lines and the new mega-ships. It looks like Thomson looked long and hard at this and decided they wanted a bigger share of the every growing cruise market. They then decided to by two ships the Splendour of the Seas and the Legend of the Seas both from Royal Caribbean. Now whilst Royal seem determined to keep churning out the biggest and then the new biggest cruise ship in the world Thomson have turned the two 69,000 tonne ships into the TUI Discovery and Discovery2 and from the feedback I am getting people are loving it.

TUI Discovery and our very own “Magic” Steve

What I’m finding from past Thomson Guest is they love the feel of the new ships as they have so much more space all around than the other Thomson ships in fleet. They also love the fact both ships have lots of Balcony cabins. All in all it seems that they feel like it is a more modern version of what they have always done but bigger and better.

I am also finding that lots of other customers who would tend to go with say Princess/Celebrity or Royal Caribbean are also prepared to now try Thomson well the TUI part anyway when the see they have refurbished ex Royal Caribbean ships, That they can fly from so many regional airports and that they are All Inclusive as standard something they are not used to on there traditional choice. I had one customer really good customer I talked into trying the Discovery2 as I could never ever get her a flight from Belfast and she always had to fly from Dublin. I got them a Belfast flight for a 14 night back to back sailing and she phoned me the day she came back to say how wonderful it had been and was a really pleasant surprise.

The stunning Atrium and one of the swanky bars

The only negative feedback I have had at all was from a lady today who told me not to book anyone in cabin 7051 on the Discovery as you get noise from the pool being drained every night. Did that put her off you say well no she loved it and booked up again for 2018 whilst she was on the ship.

With another new ship on the way to the for 2018 to be called the TUI Explorer it might well be time for you to discover Thomson.

If you would like any details on any of the Thomson ships or any other cruise then please let me know.
