Hannah's Harbours

Thought for the day……………………

In the busy lives that we lead these days it is easy to get bogged down when you are in the thick of it and not be able to see the wood for the trees. After a busy January here in the office at cruise.co.uk I’m certainly feeling a bit like that.
Our MD Seamus is great at looking at the bigger picture, a quality I really admire, and something I wish I was better at. I seem to ‘sweat the small stuff’ all too often.
I came across the following, which is really great, and thought I would share it with you. It says it all really……
Here is the story of the two woodcutters. One of them works extremely hard still achieving

worse output than the other. Not knowing why such result he went to ask his boss.
” When was the last time you sharpened your axe? the boss asked.
“Sharpen? I had no time to sharpen my axe. I have been very busy trying to cut trees.”
Your daily job keeps you very busy. When you are very busy it’s difficult to stand back and say.
“Maybe there is a better way to do this.”
However the danger is that if you just keep reacting to work demands you will never be able to take
a proactive, strategic approach.
Go on, Sharpen your Axe!
