Some more about delays and compensation……

After my post yesterday about delays and compensations, many of my customers called me with their stories related to this topic.
I had a look myself as well and for those of you who like to know more, have a look below.

The story is about Disney Magic arrives at Port Canaveral a day late after weather delay
The Disney Magic cruise ship returned to Port Canaveral Sunday after a weather delay stalled the ship at Disney’s private island in the Bahamas for an extra day.
About 2,400 guests were on board the ship, which was at Disney’s Castaway Cay in the Bahamas Saturday.  Gale force winds at the end of the day and into the night “created an unfavorable environment for departure,” Disney Cruise Line said in statement released Saturday.

As a result of the delay, guests aboard the Disney Magic arrived back in Central Florida Sunday morning, a day after they were originally scheduled to disembark. The ship departed for its next voyage Sunday afternoon, a day after it was originally scheduled to leave.
The weather situation left guests in a lurch, but Disney said it tried to accommodate passengers.

“We’ve done as much as we can to make it as easy as possible for our guests,” said Christi Erwin Donnan, a Disney Cruise Line spokeswoman.

Erwin Donnan said the company offered guests who were on the ship when the chance to make free cell phone calls to change travel arrangements.  Disney Cruise Line rearranged air travel for those who booked their airfare through Disney.  Guests were also offered a 20 percent discount on a future cruise. So, it is always a good idea to book flight and cruise as a package.

Travelers who had to wait an extra day for their vacation to start were offered 20 percent off their current voyage.  They were also given shipboard credits and offered overnight accommodations, transportation and tickets to Epcot, where a hospitality area was set up.
