River Cruising – Have You Missed the Boat?

River cruising has seen a massive increase in popularity over the last couple of years with more and more people trying it as an alternative to ocean cruising. It really is ‘on trend’. So much so, that despite the launch of many new river cruise ships it is now virtually impossible to find a cabin at all for 2013!
When considering a river cruise you have to ignore all the rules that apply to booking an ocean cruise – forget late availability, forget last minute deals. There is no such thing in the wonderful world of rivers, infact the complete opposite applies.

Such is the demand that even some 2014 river cruises are already sold out. You need to BOOK EARLY to avoid disappointment. Plan ahead, book this year for next and by doing so you will get the best deal – up to £1200 per cabin discount in some cases, and these discounts scale down as the ships fill so don’t expect any last minute bargains. The best time to book for 2014 is NOW.

If you haven’t already booked for 2013 you will need to consider and alternative for this season – many of the ocean cruise lines have some great deals on at the moment, especially ex-UK so why not bag a bargain for this summer and while you are at it, book a river cruise for next year. I can highly recommend Avalon Waterways, Viking (as seen on ITV most nights sponsoring mystery dramas!), and AmaWaterways. I have sailed with them all and loved them all. Service, accommodation, food are all excellent and all these brands off excellent value for money with regional flights, transfers, shore excursions and in some cases gratuities, all included in the price.
