Oasis – Champagne Supanova or Look Back in Anger?

Oasis of the Seas – forget cruise ship, think more floating resort, as resort that has something for everyone, whatever age, whatever type of cruiser. I was absolutely blown away when I spent the day on her on Wednesday. Love or loathe enormous cruise ships you cannot fail to to be impressed by the sheer enormity and scale of her and by what Royal Caribbean have achieved – she is ground-breaking. She takes cruising to a whole new level!

Yes, she takes 6000 passengers, yes she is a ship that caters for families, and yes, you might be forgiven for thinking ‘Butlins at Sea’, well let me dispel that myth because Royal Caribbean have pulled a blinder and have somehow managed to seamlessly blend their usual lively, family orientated cruising style with good taste, class and a real luxury feel.

The ship is very cleverly put together with seven different ‘neighbourhoods’, each one with it’s own very unique personality so if you want a lively, loud, vibrant and active cruise experience it is there for you. If you want peace and quiet and relaxation, it is there too. This is a ship that caters for everyone’s cruising requirements, a ship that will give you the very best cruise experience at sea. You can have the cruise of your choice, whatever your choice if you see what I mean.

I loved the tranquility of Central Park with all its living plants, birds tweeting and little restaurants and bars. For me this is my favourite area. Another favourite for me was the Champagne Bar, a really classy place to enjoy a pre-dinner cocktail. I can highly recommend the Bailey’s Butterball!

The Royal Promenade, as always, was far too busy for me but for those of you who enjoy a vibrant atmosphere it would be perfect – plenty of bars, shops and eateries to choose from. I ate in American Icon and the Solarium both of which I would highly recommend – food pics in another post!

All in all this ship has the Wow! factor in spades. If you are looking for a fantastic experience then look no further. For more information please give me a call on 0330 303 8184 and I will be delighted to chat to you about her.
