Epic ship but not so ‘epic’ itinerary?

After spending her first season cruising in and out of Miami the NCL Epic will come to the Med for the 2011 season.

The 153,000 tonne ship which will carry 4,000 plus passengers will do seven night itineraries in and out of Barcelona. Ports of call will include Florence/Pisa, Rome, Naples and Palma – so nothing new there. These must be some of the most visited ports in the Med. Most people will have done them, probably on their first cruise, so will this itinerary be enough to tempt them onto this ‘world class’ new ship? NCL have invested hundreds of millions in this new ship, so why don’t they do something different with her? People will be tempted by her as they always are with a new ship, but when they see the ports of call I’m sure she will lose some of her appeal.

As a Cruise Consultant talking to clients all day every day I know that people are looking for something a bit different, they’ve all done Med cruises to death. They aren’t just going to settle for the same old ports time and time again just on a different ship. Come on NCL – use your imagination!
