Do we need another ex-UK Superliner?

P&O have this week announced that they will have a new 141,000 tonne ship operating out of Southampton from March 2015.
The ship is currently being built by Italian ship builder Fincantiri, and once completed will carry 3,600 passengers.

We already have a vast number of ex-UK sailings from various ports each year, and this year more than ever the cruise lines are dropping prices to rock bottom presumably because they cannot sell the cabins at full price, so I’m curious about P&O’s thinking here. How are they going to market this ship? Will she have the features to compete with RCCLs Independence – flow riders and rock-climbing walls? Or maybe they have thought up something better to attract the British public? Watch this space!
There are so many questions that I know will be answered in the fullness of time, but I feel this is a brave move by P&O.
Good news though folks, if the cabins don’t sell there will be some great deals to be had!
