Cougars on the prowl – but don’t tell anyone!

A few weeks ago I had never heard of a Cougar, but now it seems we can’t get away from them, they pop up everywhere! The women themselves seem quite happy with their ‘exposure’, but surprise, surprise (it had to happen) womens rights groups are finding the whole thing ‘degrading, appalling and disgusting’.  They have slammed Air New Zealand, along with some rape prevention groups for an advert run by the airline encouraging ‘Cougars’ and their ‘Cougar Mates’ to send in photos of themselves to go into a draw for tickets for a flight and a sporting event.

It is also reported that New Zealand’s Rape Prevention Agency has received complaints from men who have been raped by women who are distressed that their situation has been turned into a joke. The documentary style campaign, which follows women in their 30s, 40s and 50s preying on men in their 20s and dragging them into inner city apartments.

A spokesman for Air New Zealand has said that it was supposed to be a light-hearted campaign but some older women have taken offence.
So far about 60 women have submitted photos for the draw!
So, Carnival Cruise Lines are not going to host any more Cougars themed cruises, Air New Zealand are criticised for encouraging them, poor little men are being intimidated by them (nice to see the boot on the other foot for a change, hey girls!) – what next? I have a feeling that this is going to run and run, so watch this space. I will keep you posted!
