Amawaterways – the friendly river cruise line…..

You already know that I’m a big fan of river cruising, and here I am again having just returned from another little adventure, this time with Amawaterways. I’ve just spent a few days on the newest addition to their fleet, the Amacerto, and I have to say I had a fabulous time! We sailed from Linz in Austria up to Nuremburg in Germany in glorious late summer sunshine on this lovely state of the art ship, and I could not criticise a thing!

I also had the chance to look around a Viking ship while I was on my Ama ship as we were double berthed with them. So, I have now been on Avalon, Ama and Viking.
Basically, if you book a river cruise with any of these three river cruise lines, there is little to choose between them in terms of accomodation, food and service. They are all excellent in every department and you would find it very difficult to find fault with any of them. All three lines are top notch in every way in my opinion, and with excursions, drinks with meals and gratuities included in the price they all offer excellent value for money.

Now, excellent service is all part of a river cruise, but what I found outstanding about Ama was the friendliness of the staff. They were a delight…… and some of them were highly amusing to boot! This naturally rubbed off on the passengers and the laughter rang out throughout the ship. A happier ship I have never been on.
A special mention must go to the Cruise Director. There is always one of these on a river cruise and they literally ‘nurse maid’ you through every step of your cruise, and they are delightful, hardworking people. Nothing is too much trouble for them.
