It’s all going to be happening on Emerald Princess – Hannah, Holly, and even Downton Abbey!

P1050767You may remember that last September I was pondering the merits of a Downton Abbey themed cruise. At the time I was thoroughly enjoying the final series of what has to be one of my favourite ever TV series, and hoping that one of the cruise lines would come up with a Downton themed cruise, hopefully with some of the cast members on board and Dowton themed formal nights. While writing that post, which you can see here, I thought that it was maybe nothing more than  pipe dream on my part and something that was unlikely to happen, however it seems that Princess Cruises thought it was a good idea too because this summer they are offering a ‘dazzling Downton Abbey experience’ on board Emerald and Caribbean Princess between 18th May and 5th September – I think they read my blog don’t you!!

Sadly, neither Carson not the Lady Dowager will be on board but passengers will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the costumes and glittering jewellery worn by characters, both upstairs and down, in chronological order throughout the series. Passengers will also be able to view episodes of the popular drama in their staterooms – that would be me for the duration! I’d have to live off room service!

I have yet to find out how Princess Cruises managed to pull off the coupe, although they obviously have a great relationship with ITV following the recent and very successful airing of the latest series of ‘The Cruise’ which featured Regal Princess during her maiden season as she cruised to and from the Baltic’s from Copenhagen last year.I shall look into it further and see if I can find out.

Prices for these cruises start from an astonishing £699 per person, some of which cruise around the UK, some of which cruise to the Med- great value for money to be honest from Princess who offer a quality cruise experience and well worth considering if you haven’t booked yet for this summer.

If you want to find out more about Emerald Princess you won’t have to wait too long as myself and my colleague Holly are spending a few days on board next week so, as usual, once I am home I will be giving you my honest opinion, along with plenty of photos of carpets 🙂 I’m really looking forward to it as the only other Princess ship I have sailed on is Royal Princess and she was brand new at the time so it will be good to see how an older ship in the fleet compares.

Watch this space for Hannah and Holly’s latest adventure – you remember what happened in Amsterdam don’t you!! For those that missed it you can catch up here .

Happy Cruising Folks!
