There are 4 Meraviglia project ships in the pipeline, the first  –  the 167,700 Tonne MSC Meraviglia is currently under construction in France.  She will accommodate 4,500 guest, and is due to set sail on her inaugural season from June 2017 around the Western Mediterranean.  Her 3 homeports will be Genoa, Marseille & Barcelona.  The 3 remaining ships are scheduled for delivery in 2019,2020 & 2022.

So what’s so special about the Meraviglia Ships?  Well….

“Meraviglia”, or “Wonder” in English, is the feeling of being amazed when we see something new, extraordinary or unimaginable.

MSC Meraviglia is a sophisticated combination of state-of-the-art-technology, a love of the sea, design, comfort and practicality.                       It is a cruise ship that will dazzle her travellers.
The whole ceiling of the inside promenade will be covered with a giant 480-m² LED screen: a digital sky, capable of transmitting vistas, events, sunrises, sunsets and the starry skies at night. The Entertainment areas have been multiplied: there’s a fun park and a water park, breathtaking panoramic areas and two covered promenades.

There’s alot of love between the top-dogs of MSC & Cirque Du Soleil at the moment, here’s what they have to say about their new partnership:

Pierfrancesco Vago, Executive Chairman of MSC Cruises declared:

“Together with Cirque du Soleil are now designing a totally new, live entertainment experience for our guests. It’s this commitment to innovation, and the vision and creativity that only a family-owned company can apply, that make MSC Cruises so distinct”.

Yasmine Khalil, President 45 DEGREES, Cirque du Soleil’s Special Projects Company, commented:

“We have found in MSC a long-term partner with a clear vision about trends in the cruising industry and a strong desire to be the leader by taking entertainment on board to a whole new level.  For Cirque du Soleil, this is what inspires us and provides us with a great creative challenge that we require for each new relationship and project that we embark on”.

I’m filling up with the emotion of it all!

On a serious note though – Wow!  Really exciting news!  MSC Cruises have really got a feather in their cap with this new Love Affair, and I for one would love to experience this unique partnering.  Check out this video as a taster of what’s to come!
