BA take a Squeeze!

aircraft-seats

British Airways are a very well know airline for schedule flights.  How will their frequent flyers feel about the plan to increase the number of seats on its Boeing 777 aircraft?  The increase will be by almost 20% taking it from 280 to 332 seats.  Each row will have 10 seats instead of 9 as it is now.  So although the average waist line is expanding passengers will find the aircraft more cramped.  The amount of toilets on board will remain the same so those queues will only get longer than they are now.  British Airways have said that they are flying more passengers than ever and to meet the demand need to bring the aircraft’s cabins into line with other competitors.  The will also be upgrading the in flight entertainment system with bigger screens.  It has also been reported that the airline will add dozens of seats on to the short haul Airbus A320 as well.  The announcement came from the Chief Executive of BA’s parent company Willie Walsh.  The move should allow the company to lower the average seat cost and charge a lower price.  Do we really think this is the case?  I personally think they are just trying to get more money and don’t seem too concerned with the space the passengers will have.  British Airways have always tried to put themselves ahead of other airlines and offer everything they can however I don’t think by added more seats will do them any favours.  If they lower the price of their tickets does this mean that you won’t get the same as what is included now?  It must be hard with lots of low cost airlines out there but you get what you pay for.  Let’s hope that the new decision will go well and British Airways don’t lose any of their loyal customers.
