The Great Outdoors Is Calling!

Working from home can leave you with a huge sense of the dreaded ‘Four Wall Syndrome’, so in a few weeks I have decided to do something completely different for a little weekend away and get myself outdoors.

Now working in the luxury cruise industry does spoil you a little when it comes to accommodation. You stay in wonderful cabins (normally), and have everything at your fingertips in terms of food, booze and entertainment, all of which is top end. So since I was torn between a cruise and a new kitchen this year, and of course desperate not to miss a holiday of some sorts, I have decided to buy a load of camping gear and head up to the Lakes for a few days, and truly experience The Great Outdoors!

This has come to the great amusement of some of my friends and family, who know me as something of a hotel snob.

Yeah I am THAT GUY that won’t stay in less than a 4 star hotel, and to be honest I’m uncomfortable with that. Very much the 5 star luxury life is my preference!

So since my budget is thinner than usual thanks to the wife wanting to ‘sort the house out’, I feel that camping might give me both a reality check, and also scratch the itch to get away from it all. If only for a few days.

So far I’m concentrating on the Coastal Cumbria and The Lake District, a place I know reasonably well from hotels/weddings/weekend breaks to Windermere kind of perspective etc etc, but also it means that living in North Manchester, I don’t have to drive home too far if I get too cold and wet AKA come running home scared.

But seriously, the Great British countryside is actually some of the most picturesque there is, Scotland and Wales have a lot of it of course, but England has plenty of it’s own amazing places, so I am genuinely keen to get out there and explore some of it. You never know I might love it, and in six weeks I might be selling tents not cruises (not likely FYI).

All my friends and family who have done it, have loved it, so who knows!!

Me and a few non-camper friends will be undertaking this little adventure so I’ll let you know how I get on in a months time!

But if anyone has any input as to what I am going to need, other than the obvious, I would appreciate it!

Watch this space………

As always thanks for reading and until next time……………
