Countdown to Sardinia Begins

In just 7 days I will be jetting off with the family to sunny Sardinia!

Another completely new destination for me, and my third holiday of the year, and I cannot wait!

This time round we decided to invite the family along with us, so we actually have 7 adults and 2 babies split over two hotels! Quick someone warn the Italians!!!

The reason I decided on Sardinia, other than the fact I’d never been, was that I managed to literally pick the flights up for super cheap, which in August is not easy!

So we fly across to Olbia and make the short hop to Murta Maria, a small town about 10 mins inland drive from Porto Istana, one of the most glorious beaches on the north east side of the island, and a short ferry ride to the stunning Isla Tavolara, a giant rocky island that creates a beautiful view from the mainland. I hope to go out there on one of the days.

To be fair, we are just going for a bit of summer sun, which ironically for the first time ever in England, we don’t really need, having had one of the best summers ever so far. Even in Manchester!

But to tell you the truth I just love the feeling of being abroad and not having the stresses and strains of homelife for a week.

Ideally we wanted longer, but we were in Malta in March for 12 nights, then I was aboard Azamara Quest for a few days, and I’m off over Christmas, so time off was a bit tight!

I’ll take a week away though, and the way we’ve timed it I can also make use of the bank holiday weekend, meaning I’ll just be working one or two days out of about 12 days which will be a nice finish to the summer, and a well earned break after a busy few months!

Initially we were a bit worried that the temperature would be close to 40 degrees, but looking at the weather it’s lingering around the 30s, which although hot, I find more than manageable, and with a pool and air con it’s going to be absolutely perfect I reckon!

I think between looking after the baby, entertaining the family and just general holidaying, there won’t be much time for anything else, but Olbia and the north east of Sardinia is a place I’ve never been, so I always open the floor on my own holidays at this point for suggestions from people that have been there, so if there is anything special that these travel agency eyes need to see, then please do let me know!

Anyway the countdown begins! 7 days and counting…

Thanks for reading and as always, until next time….
