We’re On The EDGE Of Our Seats!

It’s not often I get hugely excited about brand new ships I’ll be honest, purely and simply because after 13 years in the industry, you start to see a lot of repetition.

Take Royal Caribbean and Celebrity for example.

For years Royal Caribbean have just kept churning out these gigantic 5,000 passenger technogical behemoths, which, although seriously impressive, are virtually all the same, Oasis, Allure, and now Symphmony, they mixed in Quantum and Anthem, the fore ending up in China, and the latter sent out to USA never to be seen in Europe again!

The trouble with the first three ships is that they are weather reliant, and Europe, as stunning as it is, just isn’t reliable enough sunshine.

Then Celebrity, the sister brand fires out 5 x almost identical ships over the course of the last 7 years. Again, stunning ships which have done brilliantly well, but nothing that has really ‘broken the mould’ so to speak.

UNTIL NOW………………

Yes you heard me right, and you’ve probably heard rumours that Celebrity are releasing their latest ship in 2018 – Celebrity Edge. Their most adventurous ship by an absolute country mile, and I genuinely cannot wait!

I am quite keen on booking this one for myself but it’ll be towards the end of 2019 when my soon-to-be-here son is over the age of 2 years old. We may wait a little longer but it’s definitely a ship I fancy if time and money are available.

Let me tell you why I love the concept….

Firstly, I am a huge fan of the brand, other than the price of excursions, Celebrity for me is the perfect brand.

They offer high end 5 Star cruises, with loads of benefits on a lot of voyages, like drinks packages and on board credit, and blend it with a service that is exceptional, making them overall excellent value – something I am also a fan of!

I have been lucky enough to experience Solstice and Reflection, two of their newest family of ships, and they are both excellent. I preferred Solstice because at the time, it was a game changer for ships, there was so much modern luxury and so many re-imagined areas, the whole ship was just amazing at the time, I had previously not seen anything that could really compete. But over the years, other lines such as P&O with their Britannia, Holland America with the Koningsdam, just to name a couple that have excelled in recent months.

So here we go again with Celebrity changing our outlook on what we consider to be ultra modern and luxurious at the same time, with Celebrity Edge.

All in all I think the Edge will really live up to her name, and really push the limited of cruise ship tech to the edge!
