The Nieuw Statendam: If music is your food of love – then this is your ship.

Well, as regular followers of my blog you will know that I have recently returned from the pre-launch event for the Holland America Nieuw Statendam and I just wanted to take this blog opportunity to give you my verdict.  Here is Part 1 – All things Entertainment.

I had previously done a 1 day ship visit on the Koningsdam last year which is the Sister ship to this Pinnacle Class ship and the layout was very similar and seemed very familiar.  The ship was extremely easy to navigate and encompassed the same Music Theme which was reflected in a lot of the amazing art work featured throughout the ship.

Entertainment on board is held in the World Stage Theatre, with its amazing 270-degree wraparound LED Screen, which hosts fantastic song & dance performances but also the real highlight for me was the Music Walk.

The Music Walk is made up of the Rolling Stone Rock Room – a new addition to the fleet with this ship and now being launched on the Koningsdam – this was a classic rock club developed in partnership with Rolling Stone allowing passengers to experience a live rock band playing hits of your favourite rock stars.  This was one of my favourite areas – being a bit of a self-confessed rock chic.  Another well populated area was the B.B King’s Blues Club – once again a live band bringing the music of Memphis to live at Sea.  Topped off with Lincoln Centre stage – hosting classical music recitals and Billboard Onboard where duelling pianists play your favourite tunes from 50 years of chart-topping hits to a different theme each evening.   The whole Music walk area takes up a large proportion of Deck 2 between the Theatre and the Dining Room and really came to live each evening.

More to follow on the rest of the ship – including amazing Dining, warranting another half stone weight gain !!…  But for now, to conclude, if you have a genuine love of Art, the Arts and Live Music this would be the ship that I would truly recommend for you.
