Ventura Mini Cruise

I have embarked on a number of mini cruises over the past few years but I have to say one of my favorite short cruises was a recent 2 night sailing onboard Ventura at the end of September to celebrate my wedding anniversary. It was a relatively last minute decision to go, but thought we would have some mummy and daddy time away while nanny agreed to look after Alfie for us.

I have sailed on the Ventura previously so I know what to expect in terms of the ship, but normally on a mini cruise I have found service to be not quite up to scratch and a little dismal if im honest, along with the food too but this time everything was perfect!

Service was fantastic, we never had any long wait for drinks at all and the staff all seemed to be happy and enjoying there time onboard Ventura. We decided not to dine in the main dining room, instead we booked into Sindhu for our first evening and then Epicurean for the second evening. We have dined a few times now in Sindhu but onboard Azura, so we knew what to expect although the menu had changed which was a nice surprise. What really stood our for up was Epicurean, absolutely fantastic and well worth the supplement, the staff, service, food, attention to detail, everything was exceptional!

We booked on the saver fare and was allocated a clear view ocean view on P deck, the lowest passenger deck but we were pleasantly surprised again, cabin was great, lovely large clear view picture window and we found P deck was a great location too!

We don’t partake in the evening entertainment, instead we prefer to sit at a bar with a cocktail in hand!

We did however venture into Guernsey, previously I have found there to be very long ques for the tender but on this sailing we waited no more than 10 minutes for a tender, it was a beautiful sunny day for late September and we headed of for a spot of shopping in st peter port and breakfast overlooking the harbour. When we returned to the ship we were the only people on the tender, so bagged great seats on top to witness the sail back across to the Ventura. As the sun was shining the decks were full with people enjoying the sunshine, so we bagged a couple of sunbeds and spent the afternoon sipping cocktails around the pool!

All in all a fantastic mini cruise, well done P&O and Ventura!
