New Addition’s for Hurtigruten

A few years ago i was lucky enough to take a voyage with Hurtigruten onboard the Finnmarken. After being a little apprehensive about the trip it actually turned out to be one of the most wonderful and magical trips i have ever taken. it was just something completely different o my normal ‘holiday’ , the scenery, the excursions, the food onboard everything was just fantastic and I will always absolutley rave on about how fantastic a voyage with Hurtigruten is , and even more so if you are lucky enough to witness the northern lights like i did!

Now the Finnmarken was one of there newer ships at the time but some of there other ships are pretty old I have to say! So it was great to hear Hurtigruten are splashing the sash and have 4 brand new ships on order.

this week the first cut of steel was made towards the first of the new ships which is set to be named Roald Amunsden and will enter service in summer 2018 with her sister ship to follow in 2019. the remaining 2 ships have yet to be advised there year they will enter service. the ships are set to be around 20,000 tonnes and carry around 600 passengers each but the main feature will be they are the first ships in the world to utilize hybrid power using a battery system.

So if you fancy something a little different for your next adventure I thoroughly recommend a voyage with Hurtigruten, you have the chance to see the Northern lights, you can go Husky dog sledging, Visit Ice Bars and even sail right up close to some of the worlds most beautiful Fjords!
