Late Season – Why wait??

Its known in travel that around this time now we are in ‘Late’ season.

Known in the trade as this due to lots of people wanting last minute cruises. There are lots of reasons people want a ‘Late deal’ and I am going to cover a few of the real reasons behind these sorts of deals.

Firstly- What is a late deal?

We usually class any departure within a 6-8 week departure date a late deal. Normally full payment would be required for these types of cruises.

A lot of cruiselines discount to help fill unsold availability.

Are they a good deal?

This is debatable , it can be seen as the surplus stock that nobody wants. The left overs that haven’t sold. Do you really want whats left?

Lots and lots of people are holding back booking their cruises in advance as they feel they may just get a better deal if they wait until last minute. I hear it most days and sometimes several times a day. Personally I don’t think they are a great way to buy a cruise.

Cruising should be about selecting a cruise to suit you and not just whats left. I appreciate not everyone can book a long way ahead, but I am sure the majority would like something to plan and look forward to.

Whilst there are some bargains to be had especially when Luxury cruise lines have a sale. Savings of upto 60% have been seen this year always that These types of cruises aren’t travelling in the next few weeks. Some of these deals can be booked as far in advance as 6 months! Surely this is a better and more savvy way to get a deal right?

I always find that high street shops have decent sales but the real bargains come from the designer shops who wait for certain times of the year then offer fantastic savings. This is the same with Cruiselines.  Some cruises  have availability and they want to fill them up so reduce the last few cabins as ridiculously low prices. This is the time to pounce. Get wise and watch the trends.

Good deals are out there all year round and not just a few weeks before you are looking at travelling. Get wise and check the website. You may just stumble on a gem of a deal!
