From my last couple of blogs you will know that I was getting rather excited at the fact that I had been invited to spend an evening on the brand new P&O Britannia before her maiden voyage this coming Saturday 14th March 2015. I travelled down to Southampton with some of my colleagues and we was all excited at the prospect of spending the day and night on board. After what seemed like an eternity waiting to get on board we finally got to see this beauty for ourselves.
Now, I will be boring you all with the ship details in the next blog or two as will the rest of my colleagues at cruise.co.uk, however, there is one point of the ship that I though was fantastic and I want to share that with you, especially my fellow ladies.

Now the cabins on Britannia are not that big for a standard balcony cabin, but very well designed and nicely laid out. With plenty of wardrobe space and storage at the bedsides with a small 2 seater settee. As this is a new ship, of course it was impeccably clean and everything was brand spanking new.
I was very fortunate during my tour of the ship to actually meet one of the main designers, apologies but I forget his name, but we had a conversation regarding the design and found out that they had decided to design the ship based on a boutique style hotel. They had surveyed over 20,000 British people from all walks of life, some cruisers and some non cruisers asking what they would like on this new ship or what they would expect. The results are clear to see that they have got this boutique style theme down to a tee. I will publish more photos in later blogs. One of the main things was the bathroom, especially in some of the older newer ships like Ventura and Azura where in my blog above, I and others moaned about the size and layout of the bathroom and the dreaded shower curtain.

I am so pleased to say, that not only have they designed the bathroom to use the best of the small space, but they actually have a proper glass door. But not only that, the shower cubical is a very good size with more than enough room to swing a cat, especially for those of us that are a bit larger.
They have also cleverly designed great storage in the shower cubical itself with plenty of room to place large shampoo, conditioner and shower gel products and whatever else you may want to take in the shower.
But best of all it has a step.. for us ladies to easily shave our legs whilst in the shower without falling over and causing injury…
Hooray for Great British design and thankfully listening to what really is important. I cannot tell you how happy this made me whilst getting ready for my posh frock event. I could bare my legs proudly with no dodgy cuts from shaving in a hideous confined space.
