Would You Fancy a 245 Day Cruise?

On the 30th of August this year the Viking Sun set sail from Greewich on it’s Ultimate World Cruise and won’t be back until the end of the cruise next May!

After setting off from Greenwich, the cruise will sail around the British Isles. Then the voyage will continue to Scandinavia, with the Norwegian port of Bergan as the first point of call. Heading off to the Caribbean, the ship will call at the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Greenland. The ship will spend 2 months in  South America before sailing to the tropical islands of the South Pacific. She will then head off to New Zealand, Australia, and the South China Sea, both coasts of India and then head back to London via the Suez Canal and ports in the Mediterranean.

All in all this mammoth itinerary takes in 6 continents, 51 countries and 111 ports of call.

And how much would this 8 month cruise cost you? Prices start at a mere £67,000 per person for the lead-in cabin grade (balcony cabin) right up to a whopping £194,000 for the plush owners suite. The price includes all inclusive drinks and tips, which Viking include as standard on all their ships.

Now, I love to cruise as much as the next man (actually, probably much more than the next man), however I’m not sure, even if I had the money, I could do such a long itinerary. For a start I would put on so much weight with my love of food and having so much lovely cuisine cooked for me every day. There will be many days at sea on the itinerary and I wonder if I’d enjoy the relaxation time or get itchy feet? It seems that many agree with me as only 54 passengers have signed up for the full cruise. Many more have signed up for one of two 120 night sectors.  I do like the thought of travelling round the world in luxury and getting to see a snapshot of so many different places.

I wish all those passengers on board a Bon Voyage and hope they have the most amazing trip. And if they want to book another – I’m your man!

TTFN 🙂
