Grand Cayman – Port Guide

With so many Caribbean Islands how do you chose which cruise is right for you. I have been lucky enough to visit lots of Caribbean Islands some whilst on a Cruise, I worked in Dominican Republic for 7 months and even got married in St Lucia. I love the Caribbean and each time we have been had an amazing time.

I went to Grand Cayman on a work trip back in 2010. I had an amazing 3 nights there and got to visit all the major attractions.

If you want to do something really different I highly recommend the Stingray experience. We went out on a boat to a sandbar where all the Stingrays come for feeding. To be in the natural environment with the stingrays was fantastic. They restrict the boat tours and passenger numbers so the Stingrays do not become overwhelmed and they are very friendly take a look!!

If you are a beach person the Grand Cayman is ideal. The waters are crystal clear and the sane is golden! My husband a rum drinker was very jealous of this stop! Located on the North point of the Island. Waters are warm and shallow perfect for young children and a great snorkeling spot.

Rum Point

Another great beach is 7 mile beach. Although its only actually 5.5 miles! Its not too far from George Town where the ships dock. There is more here to do than Rum Point with shops, lively bars and restaurants. The waters are again crystal clear and good for a spot of snorkeling.

No trip to the Cayman Islands would be complete without spotting one of these. Here’s a little fact for you. If you see one crossing the road you will see all the traffic come to a halt to let them past!

And finally if you are looking to get away from the crowds why not hire a car. You might well stumble across a deserted beach!
